As much as I like getting smooth aerial footage from my Mavic Pro 3, I’ve been busy flying my new AVATA 2 first-person (FPV) drone. For those who may be unfamiliar with the term, an FPV drone is a drone in which the operator wears goggles that show the camera view directly from the drone. The main advantage of this type of drone is that it allows for acquiring footage that would be impossible to duplicate with a non-FPV drone. It helps capture close-up videos of large venues, events, and anywhere a customer wants to capture the action up close and personal.
Some advantages of FPV drones include:
- An immersive experience – This first-person perspective makes it feel like you are in the drone, soaring through the sky. The immersive nature of FPV flying adds a layer of excitement and realism that traditional line-of-sight (LOS) flying cannot match.
- Precise control – The direct visual feedback allows for more accurate maneuvering. This enhanced control enables pilots to perform intricate aerial maneuvers, navigate tight spaces, and easily avoid obstacles.
- Creative Aerial Photography – FPV drones can capture dynamic and cinematic shots that are difficult to achieve with conventional drones. Flying through narrow gaps, swooping down from high altitudes, and navigating complex environments provides a fresh perspective and adds a dramatic flair to aerial footage.
Below is an FPV drone sample reel showing some footage from a few recent drone shoots. Give us a call if you would like to add some FPV drone footage to your marketing efforts.
